The environmental history of Chatthin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS), a protected area in Myanmar (Burma), was reconstructed in order to examine the effects of social and economic events, policy changes and management activities on the sanctuary’s ecology. The major threats to CWS during the past few decades have resulted from economic and land use decisions and the future of CWS depends on implementing innovative practices and new policies.
