Abstract
Analyzes the construction of gender roles in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. The commonalities of the construction of gender point to women as generally less privileged human beings than men. The fundamental construction of gender has been to separate women from men in role, status, privilege, and access.
