Feminism has transformed every facet of the lives of women, men, and children, transcending physical, geographical, and political boundaries. Although many women had a very notorious role in this revolution, millions more organized it in the private sector, the often-ignored women’s domain of schools, factories, hospitals, backyards, and places of worship. Much of this has been local and decentralized. While women as a group have not seized power, have not overthrown any particular government, they have, nonetheless, challenged the traditional belief that women’s lives and work are of lesser value. Women’s lives today would be unrecognizable to those of their great-grandmothers.
