Abstract
The impact of oil upon the lives of the people in Oloma, a small fishing community in the Niger Delta, is examined. The basic problems and tensions encountered there are shared throughout the entire Delta region of Nigeria, where oil production has, instead of benefiting the people, destroyed their environment, disrupted their lives and made them environmental victims.
