Abstract
Assesses the strategies and mechanisms used by the military regimes of Ziaur Rahman and Hossain Mohammad Ershad in Bangladesh and Mohammad Zia-ul Haq in Pakistan to achieve legitimization and “civilianization” and analyzes the extent of electoral malpractice.
