The Social Construction of Nature: Relativist Accusations, Pragmatist and Critical Realist Responses

Abstract
Both pragmatism and critical realism can contribute to the epistemology of nature. Although they support the social constructivist argument, neither promotes strong relativistic aspects. Pragmatism advocates an agnostic approach, while critical realism rejects strong relativism. Both theories, however, acknowledge that all epistemologies are relativistic to a certain degree.
