African-American Families, Urban Space, and the Meaning of Community Life

Abstract
This paper proposes to look at an ordinary neighborhood through its institutions, to analyze the construction and meaning of community life. This paper will seek to identify the elements that gave this particular space its meaning, and transformed it into a black community in the midst of a diversified population.
