Abstract
This article examines the function of work in computer-technology dominated work environments, asserting that the future of work may involve a new “sociality” to counteract the isolation caused by computer-mediated work, and that a new sense of self-management, co-operation and social interaction will evolve. The author believes that communication must be expanded to foster these capabilities; people must take active participation in creating the future they prefer.
