Author(s)

Abstract
Francisco Menezes argues that food sovereignty reaffirms the rights of peoples to their autonomy, deciding what they wish to produce and consume. But this is not sufficient to guarantee food security, which should always be associated with social equity, ensuring access to good quality food for everyone that is nutritionally adequate and culturally appropriate.
