Abstract
This chapter talks about the premise that North-South environmental negotiations are increasingly adversarial and the reigning confrontational attitude amongst negotiators from both sides threatens to hinder, rather than help, the achievement of environmental treaties that are fair, efficient, and stable. The issue is addressed completely from the perspective of the South and argues that the South has the opportunity to formulate a new strategy for international environmental negotiations that could better serve the realization of its environmental and developmental goals.
