Marginalized Violent Internal Conflict in the Age of Globalization: Mexico and Egypt

Abstract
The link between international forces and unempowered members of society is explored, focusing on Egypt’s Gama faction and Mexico’s Zapatista group. It is posited that globalization increases feelings of hopelessness and marginalization, which in turn increase the extremism of such groups’ ideologies.
