The interaction of two production systems, global fordism and global toyotaism, leads to problems in the international division of labor. Global fordism aims at hiring semiskilled workers for the mass production of standardized goods using specific machines, while global toyotaism aims at flexible specialization, using skilled workers and general purpose equipment. Global toyotaism has been implemented in North America, Western Europe and Southeast Asia, with many local development centers interacting with each other, and is considered conducive for local development.
