Abstract
Care giving is one of the most troubling problems in modern economies, both because caring is so strongly identified with women and because it is so often part of the invisible, unpaid economy. It is not surprising that many modern nations are experiencing a crisis in care, and that this crisis is forcing people to reexamine both the value of caring and their assumptions about gender roles.
