Abstract
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are the principal agencies in the United Nations family of international institutions to address sustainable development. Indeed, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) formally charged each of these bodies with the goal of elaborating strategies and measures to halt and reverse the effects of environmental degradation while continuing to raise the standards of living in all countries. The early report card on these efforts is positive.
