Author(s)
Johnson, F. Catherine
Abstract
This articles discusses the ways in which gender-based violence undermines development efforts in such sectors as economic growth, HIV/AIDS, and child survival. Gender violence is an enormous cost to society. Johnson advocates for a comprehensive, multifaceted model to address the problem, including legal interventions, health approaches, public awareness and political will, illustrating this model with the interventions of USAID.
