Abstract
U.S. multinational corporations have avoided responsibility for abusive practices by foreign contractors. Proposals include Social Accountability 8000, a set of quantifiable controls for encouraging industry compliance with human rights standards. Now, US multinationals will carry the burden of watchdog groups and media oversight.
