Aguilar argues that contemporary feminist theory has continued to relegate and consign ‘Third World’ women, women of color, and working-class women to the periphery of its concerns. She states that ‘resistance and empowerment theory’ account for this marginalization. Aguilar then takes the position that in most instances white/western feminist claimes to emancipate women are questionable in light of prevaioing postmoder currents that indicate a claear retreat from class analysis, political economy, and a distrust of nationalist sentiments and notions of the nation state.
