Government policymaking has become a victim of the need to please certain interest groups and appear practical at the expense of ethics, morality and charity. The country’s immigration policy is a primary example of decision-making gone astray because it denies the poor of the world entry without necessarily alleviating the plight of the domestic poor. It is the duty of every public administrator to at least publicly proclaim his adherence to the notion of equality, no matter how much it has lost its meaning through non-practice. At least, this would keep the idea alive.
