This chapter will look at themes of women’s activism in relation to: the rise of the NGO sector, the alliance challenging violence against women and the increasing importance of human rights discourses. These are taking novel forms but display some continuities with other kinds of action and debate. They are strategically utilizing both the resources and the conceptual tools of the globalization agenda to advance the gender-specific and class-based interests of women.
