This paper is an examination of the process of routinization of the new religious movement of Witchcraft and Neo-Paganism in New England. Witchcraft is a decentralized religion which emphasizes the spontaneity of religious expression. The Weberian model of routinization is shown to be of limited applicability to this group. It is suggested that new insights into the process of routinization offered by organizational theory can help to frame the process of routinization within this new religious movement.
