The Heart of Whiteness
Author(s)Appadurai, Arjun
AbstractThe future of patriotism amidst multiculturalism is dependent on cultural attitudes and related to the concept of postcolonialism. Postcolonialism emphasizes the uneasy alliance between nations and states, a relationship that is clear in Eastern Europe and Russia, and attracting more attention in the US. The distinction between Americans and ethnic Americans has reached alarming proportions that demand a broadening of the field of postcolonial discourse to include debates on race, urban violence, affirmative action, multiculturalism diasporic diversity and transnationality.
