Abstract
Cultural Globalization refers to the transmission or diffusion across national borders of various forms of media and the arts. This article argues that “cultural globalization” is no longer thought of in terms of the emergence of a homogenized “global culture,” but rather is recognized as a complex and diverse phenomenon consisting of global cultures from many different nations and regions. The author reviews the main theoretical models that have been used to explain or interpret cultural globalization, proposes an additional model, and discusses the status of these models in relation to recent literature on globalization.
