Equality and Equity in South Africa: Multicultural Education and Change

Abstract
Racism, apartheid and the process of proletarianization led to inequality and inequity in South Africa. Steps taken to reform these injustices focused on youth and women workers of South Africa. Equality was perceived as achieving ‘sameness’ in access to plant, material and social goods and equity was perceived as the achievement of justice. Racism in educational institutions in relation to issues on location of class, region, gender and the money spent on native South African students are being considered by reform movements.
