Abstract
In this article I will be drawing upon feminist discussions of Eurocentric and androcentric biases in order to evaluate a theory that will be familiar and current for many readers of this journal, namely, the theory of religion developed over the past ten years or so by Rodney Stark, William Sims Bainbridge, and a number of associates. That theory has given rise to a series of books, all of which have been hailed by most reviewers as major contributions to the sociology of religion as well as a dizzying array of articles whose proliferation shows no sign of abating. If there is any one theory that is taking the sociology of religion by storm, this is it.
