Myrdal writes that it is not possible to conclude that the non-Soviet world is on the way to a higher level of economic integration and there are momentous practical problems facing the world today. In looking at these practical problems, the author summarizes his book. Myrdal argues the world’s hope for a peaceful solution of the political problem raised by the gross inequality of opportunity between nations depends on 1. underprivileged nations succeeding in joining forces effectively and 2. that the present power vacuum is thus filled. The author gives detailed suggestions and advice to developed and developing nations on how to readjust our policies and thereby deflect/change the current trends.
