Abstract
This interview with Walden Bello puts forth his views on a “New Economy” such as: “I think we must defend the role of the state in terms of regulation of private capital, even the role of the state in production, but we must also see the limitations of the state as an economic agent. A country’s political economy should be the factor that liberates different types of systems of production, and should include the importance of community ownership, the role of civil society control, the role of co-operatives and of hybrid arrangements between co-operatives, private business and the state.”
