West Africa in 2020
Author(s)Cour, Jean-Marie; Naudet, David
AbstractAfrica is often described as a continent in crisis for its seemingly widespread disorder and violence. However, the region is actually going through a demographic and economic transformation. Africa’s accelerated population change is projected to raise the urban ratio to 60% by 2020. The continent is also gradually absorbing the benefits of global market integration. These rather abrupt changes explain the prevalent impression of disorder and chaos in the region.
