Abstract
Several regional development agencies (RDA) are planning policies with the aim of promoting environmental protection and regional development. Friends of the Earth, for instance, has presented a set of objectives which, through the support of other RDAs, will help pave the way toward a more sustainable economy. These objectives include encouraging the development of community enterprise aimed at meeting local needs and developing ways to enhance the quality of life, eradicate poverty and increase employment rates.
