The problem of policy choices has two dimensions which are interrelated: rational policy choices and actual policy choices. Myrdal argues that social scientists (economists) represent the main link between the two dimensions. The author states that science is never anything else than highly rationalized common sense and economists should target ordinary people along with fellow economic scientists in order to influence actual policy choices.
