Abstract
There are many important respects in which the divergent development strategies adopted by Kenya and Tanzania have produced correspondingly different outcomes, with regard to the factors that are thought to have determined the technological behavior of public enterprises in the manufacturing sectors of these countries. This selection stresses the striking similarities between them.
