D.N. McCloskey’s discussion of the rhetoric of economics underscores the challenge provided by rhetoric to a foundationalist, Cartesian picture of theoretical rationality. Nevertheless, her work does not clearly describe the potential challenge offered by rhetoric to rational choice theory.
