Abstract
In this article, the author details the findings of Josephine Salmons in 1924 during her excavation in Taungs, revealing the skull remains of a potential ancestor to homo sapiens. Due to the humanoid features of the skull, in comparison to anthropoid findings, it was discovered that the skull was an earlier part of the human evolutionary chain, and was given the name of australopithecus africanus. The author goes on to give specific details about the features of the skull, including the cranium, dentition, mandible, and endocranial caste.
