Perspective: Is Human Cultural Evolution Darwinian? Evidence Reviewed from the Perspective of the Origin of Species
Author(s)Mesoudi, Alex; Andrew, Whiten; Laland, Kevin N.
AbstractThis article explores the key elements of the case for biological evolution through natural selection that are presented by Darwin in the Origin of Species as well as the extent to which a parallel case is justified for the evolution of culture. The framework has successfully integrated several disparate disciplines into a coherent research program, evolutionary biology, and has the potential to do the same for the study of culture.
