Magical Misfortune in Locorotondo
Author(s)Galt, Anthony H.
AbstractIn this article I describe and discuss magical causes of misfortune in the southern Italian town of Locorotondo, interpreting them as one of several possible sets of elaborating symbols that local peasants use to conceptualize and understand misfortune. These causes have various moral implications, and they reflect significant values emerging from local historical experience.
