Alternative Kinship, Marriage, and Reproduction
Author(s)Terrell, John; Modell, Judith
AbstractAn anthropological study of adoption is expected to provide the public, particularly birth parents, adoptive parents and adopted children, with a clearer understanding of psychological and social ties that bind an adoptive family. A comparison of adoption in different societies can also promotetheories of culture creativity, human agency and identity formation and maintain emphasis on individual experiences in the social and cultural framework.
