Christian Feminists are often forced to address the soteriological issue of whether or not the Incarnation of Christ can be salvific for women. They particularly question the anthropology of original sin and the crucifixion of Jesus as the means of salvation. Feminist theology has frequently assessed Atonement theory on the basis that it has been used ideologically to limit the freedom of women and to persuade them to accept abuse. Despite this, Feminist Christians are able to seek from God liberation from patriarchal domination and exploitation.
