AbstractThe intersection of AIDS, criminal justice, and anthropology is explored. Topics include the politics of street ethnography, morphing of the ethnographic tropes, heroin injectors and their subculture, the demonization of crack, prostitution, criminalization of HIV transmission, and imprisonment as a risk factor for HIV infection.
