Does Food Security Require Local Food Systems?
Author(s)Anderson, Molly D.; Cook, John T.
AbstractThis article examines the relationships between the goals of food security and sustainable development. The authors argue that localized food systems can meet needs for food, maintain environmental quality, and promote better political representation in food-system choices. Food security and local food systems of the United States are analyzed to show deficiencies and alternative approaches to sustainable food security.
