Why Africa Needs Agricultural Biotech
Author(s)Wambugu, Florence
AbstractThis article makes a case for the use of genetically modified crops in Africa. It argues that there is urgent need for the development and use of agricultural biotechnology in Africa to help to counter famine, environmental degradation and poverty. Furthermore, it claims that the public debate on transgenic crops in Europe has been centered on fear and mistrust, rather than on scientific evidence.
