Abstract
Third-world women are largely relegated to occupations involving the agricultural sector, the informal sector and low paying, labor-intensive sections of industry. Third World professional women are over-represented in nursing and teaching. Thus, the division between what is considered ‘women’s work’ and ‘men’s work’ in developing countries has significant political and economic implications. It is argued that the UN has failed to achieve social justice and social development for children especially in developing nations.
