Theorizing the State in Local Economic Governance
Author(s)Eisenschitz, Aram; Gough, Jamie
AbstractThe autonomy of the local state in establishing local economic initiatives (LEIs) worsens the conflict between capital generation and class relations. This can be seen from the problems which usually accompany the major forms of state involvement in LEIs. Common conflicts include that between private profit and the socialization of production, that between mobility and fixity, that between capital and labor, and that between universal and partial dynamics of the state.
