The Economics and Politics of Regulation
Author(s)Chang, Ha-Joon
AbstractThis chapter looks at the historical evolution of perspectives on regulation in the post War World II (WWII) era. The author seeks to answer the question of why there has been such a change from heavy state involvement in the economy in many countries to a recent disillusionment with state intervention and a move towards greater deregulation. In addition he explains that the consequences of such a change have been and we can improve our understanding of policy practices in this area.
