Man Bad, Woman Good? Essentialisms and Ecofeminisms
Author(s)New, Caroline
AbstractRadical eco-feminism as a new movement of social transformation faces problems of gender division, but should not be dismissed by the Left for this reason alone. Social eco-feminists denounce the consistently dualistic modes of thinking, claiming that women are epistemologically privileged. The stress on gendered experience and interests highlights the universal subordination of women. A reassessment of socio-psychological mechanisms and of current political forms and methods is required to overcome the destructive trends arising out of gender conflicts.
