The Neo-Classical Theory of Value
Author(s)Myrdal, Gunnar
AbstractWhile the classical theory of value had its origin in the natural law doctrine that labour is the legal ground of property, no attempt was made to derive the right of the worker to the product of his labour. Later classical writers, under utilitarian influence, showed a more psychological bent, looking at the sacrifice involved in labour. Myrdal argues that neo-classical value theory falls into two parts: exchange value and a pure value theory. The author discusses neo-classical value theory.
