Keynes and Conventions
Author(s)Lawson, Tony
AbstractJohn Maynard Keynes’ writings on the possibility of rational conduct during times of uncertainty has contributed a lot to economic analysis. In the ‘General Theory,’ Keynes stresses that knowledge needed for the pursuit of goals is not present at all times and that conduct is decided upon by the free play of ‘animal spirits’. Keynes believed that successful analysis could be obtained with the integration of the separate and distinct roles of agency and structure in the economy.
