The Social Construction of Economics and Social Construction of Gender
Author(s)Nelson, Julie A.; Ferber, Marianne A.
AbstractThis introduction begins by reviewing how the role of people within economics, and the attention given to their experiences, has differed according to their sex. We then turn to feminist theory, which explores the links between the social construction of scientific disciplines and the social construction of gender, to suggest reasons why such differences in experience should not be dismissed as just historical digressions or biographical coloring.
