Economists in Political and Policy Elites in Latin America
Author(s)Montecinos, Veronica
AbstractEconomists are leading a possibly revolutionary change in Latin America, away from state-run economies to a more market-based approach. The field is being professionalized and economists are moving into higher policy-making fields in the governments of Latin American countries. These economists are more likely to be of the country in which they work than previously, but have a regional and even international perspective.
