Social Economics in the Years Ahead: An Economist’s Perspective

Abstract
A look at the popular economic beliefs held by mainstream and social economists shows that public support may veer away from the laissez-faire economy. Three economic theories lend credence to this claim. Meanwhile, there are several strategies to address the popularity of the free-market economy ideology among neoclassical economists. One is to shift social economic research away from poverty.
