Debt and Deforestation
Author(s)Dorman, Peter
AbstractThis article elucidates the direct correlation between debt in Third World countries and deforestation. The author suggests that, in order to preserve these forests, either natural resources must be assigned sufficient money values, they must be made off limits to public and private owners who would liquidate them, or means to reduce the level of debt required to finance global development must be found.
