Income Distribution, Well-being and Freedom
Author(s)Sen, Amartya
AbstractOur diversities can be hard to accommodate adequately in the usual evaluative framework of inequality assessment. The extent of real inequality of opportunities that people face cannot be readily deduced from the magnitude of inequality of incomes. Substantive inequalities in well-being and freedom may even directly result from an equal distribution of income.
